Deep Darkness

Jesus said:
22 “Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light.
23 But when your eye is bad, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!Matthew 6:22-23 (NLT)

This statement by Jesus describes the consciences of those involved in the harvesting and selling of baby body parts. It is tragically ironic that they think they are so enlightened in their minds and yet their souls are actually in darkness.

How deep is that darkness? It is beyond sensitivity, mercy, understanding or compassion for the baby, even when its heart is beating while it lays on the table struggling for life.

How deep is that darkness? They sort through severed baby body parts without hesitating, cringing or caring the least bit that what lies in that dish before them is a person in its infancy, mutilated for of all reasons, base inhuman evil profit.

How deep is that darkness?  Words nearly fail to describe the intensity of that darkness so dense, so degenerate, and so deplorable that it defies human logic and the basic instinct of human love.

What does that darkness do? It exposes the wickedness and depravity of the human heart. Here’s what God says:  The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? 10 But I, the LORD, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.”  Jeremiah 17:9-10 (NLT)

The only answer to the darkness is God’s light or truth. His light, if heeded, will bring conviction, conversion, cleansing and forgiveness from all sin. Jesus reminded Paul of his and our mission: “17 ….. Yes, I am sending you to the Gentiles 18 to open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.’
Acts 26:17-18 (NLT)

Here is the truth: “Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, ‘I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.’ John 8:12 (NLT)

We can do something about the darkness, let the light shine!

I am new to your wife's blog and found this from hers.
Thank you for your words, you express the very things i believe in. Yet,
I do not find a way to let them be heard. I know you wrote these a long time ago, but I wanted to let you know they are still being a blessing. I would have liked to hear you preach, but probably not to be in this lifetime.
Again thank you for being faithful in spreading God's Word.
