In the Beginning
There always needs to be a beginning, so for me, this will be a beginning. A journey of sharing my reflections from my recliner on various subjects which I hope will be interesting and helpful to those who stop by.
A couple of days ago my grandson had a swimming accident in their swimming pool at home. He is 11 years old and had been in the pool many times. Yet this time as he dove in head first, he tucked his head into his chest and hit the bottom of the pool head on. There was a jolt to his body. It was nearly a very tragic accident. After several ex-rays, MRI, and brain scan it was discovered the he had three contusion to his vertebrae. The neurologist said he was very lucky, it could have been so much worse.
So I begin today being very, very grateful for God's protection at a extremely critical moment. I do not always understand life, but here is what I do know: Romans 8:28 (NLT)
".....that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." All things are not good, but God uses all things for our good, yes even tragedy. This is a very personal discovery and certainly transforming. For me it is an anchor and a hope. Just thought I'd share this reflection from my recliner.

Hey, Welcome Dearest to Blog Land. How long have I been harping for you to get started. I'm thrilled.
This was quite a weekend with the scare of Nick. So glad God is faithful and Nick is doing well.
Are you comfortable in your Recliner...HaHa
I'm so happy that your grandson was not seriously hurt. I'm also happy that you have joined blogland. I've so enjoyed getting to know Wanda and seeing how much we have in common. God bless you in your endeavors.
Yay! I'll be your 2nd follower. Welcome on board!

fickle
I had to come and see you after being so kindly invited by Wanda. I'm glad I did :-)
It's so nice to see you here... welcome (I am smiling as I type).
:)
Romans 8:28 is a great verse. It is one (of many) that my family knows well.
I am happy Nick is on the road to recovery. God is good always.
I've missed ((you)).
I appreciate your emphasis that not all things are good, but that God works all things to our good.
Thanking Him along with you for His protection of Nick.
You are so familiar to me through Wanda's blog. It's so nice that you have a blog now.Now we have the previlege of knowing about your daily life from two different view points :-).All the best for your new endeavor!!Thank God that Nick is safe!
WELCOME TO BLOG LAND, PASTOR DON! This was a very inspiring post for your first post. Nick will never forget your first entry. Tell him to be careful from now on because you can get your blog material from other places. Ha! Ha! We are so glad that he is healing and being careful these days with recovery.
Welcome to the blogosphere. You're among friends.
Welcome to our amazing group of bloggers.
Yours is a wonderful beginning post.
I'm so glad Nick is doing well and that we have an Anchor and Hope in the Lord.
I think we are going to be meeting at Tahoe in Oct. sometime. I can hardly wait.
Until then, keep blogging.
Sue
What a delight to meet the other half. Hope you enjoy your journey(s)in blogland. Look forward to reading you.
Welcome. So happy and grateful the accident had a very happy ending.
I am so glad he is going to be ok. I once knew a guy who dove off a boat at the lake. He broke his neck. I always jump into the pool but that even hurts my feet if I hit the bottom. Maybe I should just walk in.
It is indeed the master at work with his loving and healing hand, isn't it. I'm happy your grandson is okay.
We had a similar accident in our pool with my nephew, its quite scary.
I love the beautiful view you have from your armchair and I will return to enjoy it too!
Happy blogging :)
Welcome to my world Don. :) Always love how God can and will use anything to accomplish His ultimate will - that we become like Him.
Thank GOD Nick is alright!!! God Bless Nick, his grandparents and all of his family!
19 comments right off the bat? Now bad, sir! nice to meet you! What shall we calls you? Wanda's S.O.? lol
Hmm, I'd like to believe that what you say there is true but having known kids who have been terribly abused, there was nothing learned or good from it--especially if they died in it. Kids are too young to get much good from it and why subjugate a child an rob them of a childhood to better others when older? Seems so cruel to even allow it in the first place..especially if that child constantly called out to Lord Jesus for protection but not once did the father/uncle/brother or whoever ever turn around and leave. how can you trust a God like that? Sorry, I am speaking from real life examples of people I l know and love.
I do want to say though I am so glad your grandson was ok. how tragic that coudl have been.
Thank you all for the kind comments about Nick. He is doing much better but needs to be careful for the next few months so as not to aggravate his injury. Your thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated.
How fun to see this, Don! Both you and Wanda have such gifts of writing - and good things to say!
